Change Your Thoughts To Change Your Life

I am constantly amazed by the terrible consequences  which one faces in life, much as a result of negative mental stimulation during our childhood.  Our brain is injected with others’ ways of viewing the world, to the extent that we lose our individuality.

What is Right and What is Wrong???

We are so confused with what is right and what is wrong that we forget to live life to the fullest.  When you change your thoughts to change your life, a door of  remarkable opportunity opens.  This door leads you to an entirely different way of viewing your life.

The First And Most Important  Thing

Acknowledge your thoughts…. all your thoughts.  Regardless of whether you feel they are good or bad.  There is no self-criticism or judgement involved whatsoever.  Think of it as if you are not you.  You step out and become another entity that is going to “see”  your thoughts, without judging or expecting an outcome.   Completely neutral.

Is there a perfect place to live…

Is there a perfect place to live within your mindset right now? Go there!  If it is too difficult to step aside and “see” your thoughts, you can focus on an object that catches your full attention.  For instance, if you believe in angels, this other entity could be an angel who is going to help you “see” your thoughts.

You will  know which thoughts are affecting your life in a negative way.  Practice this as many times as possible each day.    Soon you will see how acknowledging your thoughts will make you more comfortable with them (negative or positive).

How To Find A Way To Center Yourself

To help you through this, find a way to center yourself.  Using creative visualization works for some people, not for everyone.   So I suggest you think about something that brings a feeling of tranquility… anything.  When you think about that thing (person, place, situation, experience, pet, etc.) you want to breathe deeper.  You will feel your facial muscles relax.  You are not forcing your thoughts to be that thing.   You simply think about it, you breathe it in, and just let it be.

Watching soothing live nature scenes works for me.  When I can’t be out in nature, I play live nature video apps on my television.   Fish and ocean life with soothing music is great.  It takes me back to my natural essence, to when my life was “neutral.”  Without preconceived notions, when thoughts were neither good or bad–when things just are.

Simple, Yet Effective…

This process may seem simple… but I assure you, it is very effective!!!  Soon you will start to come to terms with your emotions, which many a times are triggered by your thoughts.  You will learn to differentiate between the thoughts that trigger “filling good” emotions from the ones that trigger emotions that make you angry or sad.

The beauty of this is that once you get used to this process, you can do it anytime, anywhere, under any circumstance.  It will become second nature because you will be in touch with your thoughts and therefore able to harness the ones that don’t work for you.

  1. I agree as a child there is unconditional love generating from them. Their heart is pure. Then it happens as they and become introduced into their immediate environment along with their personal care provider. Now come the friend’s, media manipulation and false truths that influences character as well. But through all of this, we have the power to still think for our selves. So to me, it all boils down to self-awareness.

    1. And you are SO right Maurice! Self-Awareness is the key. Unfortunately, many infants and small children’s minds are tinted with the views and opinions of everyone around them. This makes it very difficult, if not impossible, to develop self-awareness early enough to become emotionally strong. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  2. Brilliant post!
Our thoughts are what we become and this could mean the difference between happiness, health and wealth.

Thoughts will guide our perception and that’s where the real power is. Perception moves you mindset and visualization which creates our future.

Thanks for sharing and look forward to your next post.

    1. Thanks for your great insight Vince! Wouldn’t it be great if we had our true perception capabilities developed from an early age? We definitely would be able to effectively visualize what we want and therefore our natural intuition highly developed early on!

  3. So true that the negativity of comparisons we are trained to do causes us to lose track of what we really want. But becoming aware what actually feels good and right to us is one of the hardest things in the process of overcoming all of that. So very nicely communicated. Valerie. I appreciated reading this.

    1. Yes… become aware of what we REALLY want will become easier and easier as we get more and more comfortable with our thoughts. It also helps us to be more in touch with our feelings 🙂

  4. Our thoughts can be powerful and also detrimental. Positive thoughts lead to positive behavior and thus positive outcome. Negative thoughts can lead to negative behavior and possibly negative outcome. Our thoughts translate into reality. Like you said that choose the happy thoughts. When I think positively, things tend to go well, and vice versa. So having happy and positive thoughts are very important.

  5. Hi Janet anything positive and motivational is right up my alley. One of my favorate quote ” Good thoughts bear good fruits bad thoughts bear bad fruits” coming from out of one of my favorate books “As A ManThinketh” by James Allen. Loving the way you make suggestions as to how one can actually start doing this easily and repeatedly forming a habit which we need to do as it will most definitely bring positive results. Continue to help motivate this world with your good thoughts and ideas and you will be rewarded just as much

    1. Sweet thoughts Adrian! Many a times we complicate ourselves with life’s challenges and we have forgotten that our true nature lies within a past of forgotten simplicity, when eternal bliss was the standard mode. Thanks for sharing the book title, I will put it in my reading list 🙂

  6. Hello Janet,
I understand what you are saying. I have always found that I am relaxed in nature but I never get to be in nature anymore. This is extremely difficult for me since I grew up in a very remote part of Alaska on a lake and beneath a mountain, with streams nearby and a huge river I could hear in the distance. There were birds and so many wonderful plants, sights and smells! It was heaven on earth.

Now living in the city (even though it has been many, many years) I never feel the same peace. If I go somewhere there are usually still people, cars etc to disturb the peace.

I need to incorporate more of that tranquility in my life now. I had a nice big yard with plants but we had to move so now I don’t have that either and there isn’t even anywhere within walking distance to go.

I will look for more things to relax me like you suggest. I used to have a nature sounds app on my phone that I went to sleep to. I will look for more such methods to bring peace!

I have also learned I can feel much better if I intentionally change my perspective to focus on the positive.

    1. Wow… Jessica…. it sounds like you used to live in heaven! I completely understand how you feel after having to leave paradise. I have lived in a very large and congested city most of my life, so I appreciate nature so much! When I get a chance to be out there I feel like I’m “home.” This need prompted me to find other ways to compensate. I’m so happy that I was able to find other relaxation means. Try the live nature scenes on your television… you’ll see what I mean… it’s the next best thing! I also use noise-cancelling head phones while I work on my computer, read, or just relax and listen to my favorite music.

  7. Hi Janet

I enjoyed reading your post. This advice of changing our thoughts to change our life is so important.

I’ve read in motivational publications and heard it said many times, that our thoughts become our reality. Sometimes that reality is not what we want.

I like what you say about focusing on an object that takes our attention. I also like the idea of an angel as with those who are comfortable with placing their thoughts on an angel, their new thoughts should surely be of tranquility.

My favorite way so far, of bringing tranquility into my life is by listening to a CD that has the sounds of flowing waters, and other sounds of nature, such as birds tweeting in the distance. However, I like the thought of your soothing live nature scenes on your television. That sounds perfect.

I’m sure others will love visiting your website. It could become the place where people find their much needed space of peace and tranquility.

    1. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me as well Valerie. I am happy I was able to contribute a spark to promote good feelings for you! I hope you get to experience the virtual live nature scenes… you’ll love it!
